Is 4th-grade basketball co-ed?

No, 4th-grade basketball has a 4th-grade boys and girls basketball team.

When does registration open and close?

How much is it to register for 4th-grade basketball?

$150, but if you register by Wednesday, November 03, 2021, you will receive a $25 early bird discount.

Do I need to buy a uniform if I register for 4th-grade basketball?

No, in 4th-grade players will be provided a uniform for the season.  Players will return the uniform at the end of the season

What do I need to participate in basketball?

Each player will need the designated uniform, gym shoes, appropriate practice attire, and a face mask.

How often are practices, when do practices begin, and how long as practices?

Practices are one time a week (usually the same day of the week if possible) and they begin at the end of November/ beginning of December.  Practices are usually 60 - 75 minutes.

How many games are in a season and when do games begin and end? How many games are in a week?

There are approximately 10-15 games in the season.  Games begin in January and end in March.  There are no home games at St. Giles. There is usually 1 game per week.

What league does 4th grade play in?

In the past 4th grade has participated in St. John Vieney or Ascension Lutheran.

Do you have a coach for the 4th-grade boy's or girl's basketball team? How many coaches need to be on each team?

As of now, we do not have a coach for either the boy's or girl's 4th-grade basketball teams.  There needs to be two fully compliant adults at all games and practices.

What do I need to do to be a coach?

All Coaches must be fully compliant to volunteer.

How many players need to be registered to have a boys or girls basketball team?

A minimum of 7 players needs to be signed up for a team to be formed.

What if there is a large squad of players on a team?

The Athletic Director will work with the coaches to squad the team or come up with any other solution that fits the specific needs of the team.

Is there a parent meeting or team rules/conduct?

Yes, every team should have a parent meeting where player and spectator conduct, playing time, academic eligibility, and team rules are discussed.

Do basketball players have to follow the Academic Athletic Eligibility Policy?

Yes, every player is required to adhere to the Academic Athletic Eligibility Policy.  Please make sure you are familiar with the policy.  Academic eligibility will be reviewed every Tuesday morning and an email will be sent out by end of the day Tuesday.  Eligibility probation or ineligibility will last for one week from Wednesday to the following Tuesday when Academic eligibility is reviewed again.

Yes, if you do not have a uniform from the 2019 basketball season or it does not fit you will need to purchase a uniform.

$67, a reversible basketball uniform top and bottoms are included.

Players must have their uniforms ordered by October 24 to guarantee that they will be ready for the first game. You can purchase your uniform by using this link

Practices are 1-3 times a week (depending on grade level and games that week) and they begin at the end of October.  Practices are usually 60 - 90 minutes.

How many games are in a season and when do games begin and end? How many games are in a week?

There are approximately 20-25 games in the season.  Games begin in November and end in January.  Depending on the week you could have 1-3 games.  

What league(s) does 5-8th grade play in?

Each team participates in 2 different leagues. All teams will participate in the Classic League.  Other leagues we have participated in are the Metro League, Ascension Lutheran, and St. John Vieney.

Are the teams entered into any tournaments?

5-6 grade basketball will be entered into 1 tournament if there is one available

7-8 grade basketball will always have at least 1 tournament

Do you have a coach for the 5-8th girl's basketball team? How many coaches need to be on each team?

As of now, we do not have a coach for girl's 5th or 6th-grade basketball teams.  There needs to be two fully compliant adults at all games and practices.
